Back in June of 2012, when Paramount first announced that they were going to be delaying the release of the sequel to 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, I have to say that I feared the worst. The original film hadn't really done all that well in the domestic box office and I doubt that anyone really believed that malarkey that the studio wanted the extra time to convert the film to 3D. Throw in a director known for his hip-hop dance movies and (gasp!) a Justin Bieber bio-pic, and it's not looking to good for our "Real American Heroes".
But color me red, white, and blue, I was completely wrong. This installment is far better than its predecessor and definitely worth a trip to the cinema. If Jon M. Chu can do this with material like G.I. Joe, I wish him all the best and hope we see more of him in the geeksphere. It almost makes me want to go out and take a look at his previous films.
When Tomb Raider was first announced, I was immediately excited. Tomb Raider was one of those first generation PlayStation games that really made the system the best in its class. With a Crystal Dynamics developed, Square Enix published gritty reboot, I thought it was all Tomb Raider could've been with greatly reduced hardware limitations. With a fresh new take, all new game mechanics, and wonderfully rendered environments and characters, it was everything I thought it could be.
The Dark Knight has returned, this time as a member of the excellent Play Arts Kai line. "Bale-Man," as I fondly call him, is actually the 6th version of Batman that we've seen so far from SQEX and, after a rather underwhelming Arkham City version, the Caped Crusader came back with a vengeance.
His fabled arsenal is somewhat lessened however I'm glad that they included a stand. I ain't gonna touch it though, and ruin the inner tray. Translation from the excellent Nolan-helmed movie trilogy is generally outstanding, though SQEX could have been tighter on the QC checks especially with regards to paint apps.
2 more sets of armors from the first wave of Marvel Legends/Iron Man Legends line! Finally got the chance to make a video for these figures after graduation practice (hoozah!). Alright, the first wave's fine and only consist of comic series characters. Iron Patriot appeared during Dark Reign (Dark Avengers), Classic Armor Iron Man is obviously among the first few armors that Tony Stark used and lastly, the Bleeding Edge Armor which he used after the Siege event, Heroic Age.
Bleeding Edge is pretty much what I was rooting for from this wave since I got a decent IP custom already and I'm not that much of a fan of the Classic Armor look. Bleeding Edge, or the Heroic Age armor, can go with some older figures like the New Avengers team members like Bucky Captain America, Commander Rogers, Thor and many more! This armor is very flexible around your recent ROML (Return of Marvel Legends) figures. I have a few gripes regarding the figure, namely the "poseability" of the legs and as well as the bulkiness of it. This armor is supposed to be "Extremis" thin according to some Iron Man fans but this action figure is surprisingly the bulkiest among the figures of this wave.
