Bayani is a 3D rendered fighting game on a 2D plane featuring anime-style reimaginings of Filipino historical and mythological figures like Jose Rizal and Gen. Antonio Luna. The game is fully developed by a local indie developer known as Ranida Games.
I had the opportunity to play Bayani for a little bit during the last ESGS. It was a bit rough around the edges, but it was definitely an early build of the game. It's so refreshing to see a Filipino-developed game getting the love it deserves.
Bayani uses a simplified 6 button scheme, with a focus on accessbility. It should be easy to pick up and play but deep enough to give pros something to dig their teeth into. They took FGC veterans, among them is Filipino Champ, as consultants to make sure that the game is pro FGC-level worthy.
Listen, if you want Philippine game development to survive and thrive, make sure to support our own game devs. Drop the money and buy the game when it launches in Early Access on June 12, 2019 - the Philippine Independence Day. The Early Access version comes with 4 playable characters (there will be more), 3 game modes (arcade, versus, and training), 4 stages, and 8 pieces of background music. It costs Php399.95 for local gamers, and $15.99 for Steam users from the US market. If you don't have the scratch to spare, make sure to share the word about Bayani.
