Marvel Legends Avengers Series 1 Review

Starting the year with a blast! Got my hands on the latest Marvel Legends figures by Hasbro and man, I love this wave. Before I forget, I want to give a very big shout out to Basti Golez and Kramer Toy Warden for securing me a set

Marvel Legends, as some of you may have noticed, is on a roll and we got like 22 figures coming up, 9 of which are already released -- and I'm here to share to you guys the review!

Now, before I proceed, here are the figures included in this wave:

Characters

  • Sentry (Finally!)
  • Hawkeye (Oh, this one, too!)
  • Iron Fist (Came out really good)
  • Marvel NOW! Captain Marvel (Yes, another Carol Danvers and in her Marvel NOW! Uniform)
  • Scarlet Witch (A moment of silence for ToyBiz' Scarlet Witch)
  • Marvel NOW! Thor (Too big for the box and yes, largest in this wave!)
  • Machine Man (Oh, did I mention that this one's my fave of this wave?)

Build-A-Figures

  • Odin
  • Future King Thor

To build both BAFs, all you need to double up are: Iron Fist, Thor and Hawkeye which has the left leg, right leg and the body, respectively. Yes, you heard it right, you can come up with 2 Characters for this BAF!

So, now that you guys have an idea of the figures from this wave, here you go with the reviews of each figure. Don't forget to subscribe to my Youtube Channel for more. Enjoy and start hauling!

Stealth Tech Donatello Review by Japoskee

Toy reviews come a dime a dozen, but there are only a few really worth watching. Unfortunately, I wouldn't call mine any good, but there are a few Filipino toy reviewers that I really look up to. You've got guys like Dennis "Slangards" Domingo and Dominic "Advocate Pinoy" Dimagmaliw. And today, I think I'll add a new guy to that list of awesome Pinoy toy reviewers.

Today, I watched Japoskee's review of Stealth Tech Donatello. It is literally one of the most entertaining toy reviews I've seen in a while. I was laughing my ass off at some parts of it. And not only was it funny, it was actually really informative. What's different about his review is that it's completely in Tagalog, and it just works. It's awesome. I don't think it'd be as effective if I did it that way, and I'm glad I didn't because I'd have him to compete with.

I asked for permission to post his video here on GeekOut, and he accepted. So without further ado, check out his video below.

Figma Avengers Action Figures

Hey there, guys! Here we go with another Marvel action figure review but today, it's not a Marvel Legends or Select figure -- today, I'll share to you the big three of the Avengers: Iron Man, Thor and Captain America by Figma. Basically, what Figma made were inspired by the characters' appearance during the Avengers movie.

Now, the never-ending argument and comparison to Marvel Legends is back and yes, I made a quick size chart for you guys!

Sadly, I wasn't that much of a fan of the Thor figure. That one has its own good stuff going on for it but there are just some things that kinda throws it off the plane.

Anyway, the Iron Man Mark 7 figure is just amazing and what I have is just the regular version. If you're able to get a good price for the Full-Spec version, get it! For the 6" line, there are only 2 notable Iron Man Mark 7 figures -- Revoltech's and Figma's. So far, Figma wins this one, without a doubt.

Lastly, the Captain America figure is also a good catch. It has its own flaws but still a keeper -- though if you're not a fan of the Anime-ish feel of your favorite Marvel characters, it's not.

For more details regarding these Figma Avengers action figure, peep out the reviews below!

Rave and Rant: Marvel Legends Infinite Series Odin/King Thor Wave

Remember when I first reviewed the whole Return of Marvel Legends Series 1? That feeling where everyone's a good catch (well, sort of)? This wave delivers the same feeling -- oh, wait, BETTER than that.

We'll be getting:

Maidens of Might

  • Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel
  • Scarlet Witch (Oh, yes -- FINALLY!)

Avenging Allies

  • Sentry
  • Machine Man

Others

  • Marvel's Hawkeye
  • Marvel's Iron Fist
  • Marvel NOW Thor

Alright, if Hasbro can just stick to this kind of wave every time with every theme that they'll come up with, that would be great because I'm pretty sure they can deliver more if done right. Not being an all-knowing guy here but from the looks of the past few waves, I can tell that they've been grinding and really trying to bounce back.

Anyway, here's the Rave and Rant Episode for this wave announcement:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Live Action Role Play

Mazes & Mutants is one of the best episodes of the most recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series. In it, the four turtles decide to play the eponymous game and eventually to cosplay their chosen characters, turning it into a Live Action Role Play or LARP.

Things get hairy when another young mutant, Sir Malachi, decides to turn the role play part into reality with his hallucinatory powers. They have to defeat the dragon, save the girl, and win the day.

With the help of Mikey's +1 Ring of Awesome.

I bought these off of Amazon.com a couple of months back and picked them up recently from a friend (Thanks, man!). They are worth the wait, and since I paid a little less than local retail for the whole load (I bought several other TMNT figures with these) I didn't really lose too much on shipping. If you like them however, I've heard they should be out locally around the end of the month.

Keep your eyes peeled though. If the recent release of the Battleshell Turtles is any indication, these won't be on shelves for more than a couple of days, if that.

The packaging is very eye-catching with the uncommonly dominant purple and green color palette and weirdly shaped card.  They're hard to store, but they look great on the shelf next to the boring Big Hero 6 boxes and cards, or the oddly minimalist Transformers: Age of Extinction toys. They've got a collection of the "also available" figures in this and previous waves of the toy line, as well as a nice little blurb about each of the figures themselves.
