As most of you know, Battlefield 3 recently held an open beta for all three platforms - the PS3, the 360 and the PC. Everyone knows the turnout was massive but now we get some stats on how massive it actually was. And it seems that everyone who wanted to get BF3 played the beta. Well, everyone except me, but that's just because I have a thing against beta tests. Not that I think beta testing is a bad idea; far from it, in fact. Beta testing is a terrific idea, and it hits a bunch a birds with about 2 billion stones. Just never liked participating in them.
Anyway, the stats for Battlefield 3 are in and my oh my, they are indeed impressive.
What I find most impressive here is the 635.6 meter headshot. That guy should get a reward or something, even though he probably didn't know what he was doing when he was doing it. He probably didn't even use a sniper rifle, for all we know. Still, that's impressive.
At about 12.7% of total kills, knife kills still do seem prevalent, just like it would in Modern Warfare, though I suspect the percentage of knife kills in that game to be much higher.
8 million people joined in the beta. Does that not blow anyone else's mind? That's 8 million people. I would put the male population of that to be at 98%, maybe. That's a lot of dudes. There should be a Battlefield 3: Sausagefest expansion pack.
I've always been a Call of Duty player, as I've never really touched a Battlefield game before. This is going to be my first. My Battlefield cherry is about to get popped. I'm so damned excited for it, I feel like I'm cheating on Call of Duty. Make no mistake, though, I will pick up Modern Warfare 3, and I am equally excited about it. It just feels kind of weird.
Battlefield 3 drops on Oct. 25, 2011 in the States. We should be getting it around the same time. If you were lucky enough to pre-order this baby, you get a shirt, map packs and some extra guns. Should be interesting.
