Thanks, Steve.

I'll be the first one to admit that I was never a fan of Apple products or the people that use them; maybe it's because of them that I was never a fan. However, you can't help but look up to a guy like Steve Jobs. The guy was like a cult leader of technology. He single-handedly drove the masses to want to be into techy stuff, because he was able to make it so damned cool. He made it sexy to have one of his products. Now that's an achievement right there.

Not to trivialize Steve's passing, for I am sure he will be missed by those close to him and are sad to see him go but to me, what's most sad about it is the fact that the world lost one of the most innovative minds and charismatic nerds the world has seen so far.

"Stay hungry. Stay foolish." - Steve Jobs

I'm glad Steve came along. He practically ignited the whole portable multimedia device competition and smartphone industry; he lit a bushfire under the asses of their competitors, drove them to do better and give the public better products. I mean, do you think you'd be holding that Samsung Galaxy S II or HTC Sensation in your hands right now if it weren't for the iPhone? Maybe, but it sure did help.

Now, I'm sure you'd argue that if it wasn't him, someone else would've done that. And he was just a figurehead, the real work was done by his engineers. Sure, I guess, that's true. But who else would've done it rocking a black turtleneck, ill fitting jeans and sneakers?

"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet, death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it, and that is how it should be, because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It's life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new." - Steve Jobs, 2005

The Winner of the Geek Out Giveaway

Congratulations to Mr. Gino Carteciano for winning the Giveaway! We are now using the favicon he designed - . If you can't see it on your browser's tabs, you may have to clear your cache. If you don't, I guess it'll change eventually for you anyway. I will get in touch with Gino to ask him which one of the two prizes he wants.

The consolation prize goes to Mr. Marc Cypher because we really liked his favicon, too! Essentially, we went with Gino's on a coin toss. Whatever Mr. Carteciano doesn't pick, you get.

There were a few taglines that we really liked, too, but unfortunately we only have two prizes. Thank you all for joining the contest and please don't be discouraged from joining others in the future! We might have something coming up real soon.

Time to Geek Out!

So, some people might be wondering why we picked the URL that we did. It's a little complicated, because of the stigma that the word "geek"

comes with these days. Maybe if we go back to the roots of the word, it'll be a little easier to understand.
