Razer, our favorite lifestyle brand for gamers, is launching the official Razer Game Store on Lazada Malaysia and Lazada Philippines on November 11. They timed it to coincide with Lazada's 11.11 promotion, which is great for us!
By launching the two online Lazada storefronts, Razer now has a total of 4 in the SEA region with MY and PH joining SG and TH. That's a total of 65.1 million gamers served in four markets.
I checked it out and it seems like their prices are pretty much at par with Steam, which is good because otherwise, it would totally be a price war between the two.
But if they're priced the same, and the Razer Game Store on Lazada only really gives you Steam download codes, why would you bother even looking at the Razer Store? Well lemme tell you why.
On top of the regular launch promos, the Razer Game Store on Lazada will have exclusive promotions and discounts. The Razer Game Store is going to take part in the Lazada 11.11 shopping festival, which means discounts for popular titles up to 90%. Titles like Cities: Skyline, Far Cry 5, and Cuphead will get massive discounts, and they say you can even expect Assassin's Creed Odyssey to be part of that discounted lineup.
On top of that, being on Lazada gives Razer the opportunity to utilize some of the mechanics that Lazada has pioneered like surprise boxes, mega flash sales and "Slash It" game experiences.
“11.11 is the largest online shopping phenomenon in Southeast Asia, and the perfect time for Razer Game Store to fulfil its promise of expanding our digital offerings to even more gamers in the region. Our close relationship with game publishers and Lazada’s leading e-commerce capabilities allowed us to bring great and exclusive deals to gamers in Singapore and Thailand, and we’re incredibly excited to extend this to our fans in Malaysia and the Philippines as well.” - Matthias Castell, Director, Digital Store, Razer.
Another fairly major advantage the Razer Game Store on Lazada has over Steam is the availability of payment options. Lazada shoppers from the Philippines can use their BDO Unibank credit cards to enjoy installment pay plans, which is really cool. If you don't have a credit card, which Steam kinda needs (or like Steam cash cards), then you can easily pay via Gcash, which is a little easier to get, especially if you have a Globe phone.
