Details

Check out the new Razer Kraken V2s, you guys. They look glorious.

The new Razer Krakens feature larger 50mm custom-tuned drivers for game sounds and communication balance, a unibody frame (this is a plus!), and redesigned ergonomics.

The 50mm drivers are larger than any of those found in previous Krakens, which they claim should give a wider frequency range, improving balance between in-game audio and communications.

Durable Build

The new Razer Krakens are built with a new aluminum unibody frame, which is a great thing in my book. It should be more flexible, more durable than headphones made from other materials.

Razer says they've tested the new Krakens to withstand drops, bending, squishing, and rough handling. I wonder if they let a 5 year old use it for a week.

Comfort

Razer says the headphones were designed for comfort with balanced weigh distribution and reduced clamping on your head.

The ear cushions are supposedly larger, softer, and better sound-isolating than before. What's more is that they're interchangeable, so you can pick between circular or oval designs for a much better fit. Those oval ones are sold separately, though.

People like me who wear glasses aren't going to have a problem due to special in-mold channels that accommodate for glasses. This is my primary complaint with the Sony PlayStation Gold Headphones.

Communication

The mics on both the Razer Kraken Pro V2 and the Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 offer a unidirectional recording pattern and convenient retractable design. How well it actually sounds, I don't know yet.

What's the difference between the Pro and the 7.1?

Well, the 7.1 features 7.1 surround sound, which should allow for pinpoint positional audio. The 7.1 V2 also features an active noise-cancelling microphone, activated via Razer Synapse.

My Tritton AX720s are nearing the end of its lifecycle. I'm seriously considering the Razer Kraken 7.1 V2s, if budget permits.
