The PlayStation VR finally has a launch date and price for Asia! The announcement was done at an event held in Singapore. You can find the details of that here

It will launch on October 13, 2016 at select Sony stores in Hong Kong, The Philippines, Singapore, Korea, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Taiwan. That means the Asian release coincides with the US and UK release. Huzzah!

The SRP is at the following:

HKD 3,180
KRW 498,000
MYR 1,849
IDR 6,690,000
TWD 12,980
SGD 559
THB 17,490
PHP 22,900

These are close enough to the $400 USD price range that was revealed. It usually goes for a little bit more outside the US. When it reaches our shores, if you're getting it from another source other than Sony, you can probably expect to pay Php2-3,000 more.

This price range is, of course, just for the base unit, if you already have the camera (WHICH I DO!)

If you want it bundled with the camera, you pay the following prices:

SGD 659
MYR 2,209
THB 18,990
IDR 7,390,000
PHP 25,290

Again, when it reaches our shoes, expect to pay a couple thousand Pesos more.

Should you get it once it drops?

I wouldn't. Even though it's within the price range of VR that is quite acceptable, I would still watch how the early adapters and professional review sites react to it. I recommend you do, too. I mean, it is still new consumer tech. Besides, you might want to wait for any PS4K announcements first before deciding to buy. There might be a bundle you'd wanna get your hands on.

Then, of course, since it's new tech, there are going to be hardware issues at launch. You might wanna wait it out before pulling the trigger.

Another reason to hold off would be the library of apps available. We know of 53, but do we know which of the 53 are going to be killer apps? I mean, there's Tekken 7 but how that'll work with VR is a total crapshoot. Something that might be interesting is Ace Combat 7. But again, until reviews come out, it might not be a safe purchase.

So, with that said, are you getting it on launch day?
