Growing up, I wanted to be a lot of things. One of the things that I pursued somewhat actively is animation. I even have a demo reel. Of course, with my general lack of artistic talent, it was never something that would pan out. But it's still something that interests me greatly. So I'm glad the Philippines is still a potential destination for animation studios looking for some fresh talent. We, as Filipinos, have long been known to be great animators. Did you know we did tweening for Dragon Ball Z, Johnny Bravo, and even X-Men? We did some stuff for The Last of Us, too, if I'm not mistaken. I guess the lower cost of living and cost of doing business doesn't hurt.
Every year, the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. holds something called Animahenasyon. This year, they are presenting it together with iAcademy. Animahenasyon is a celebration of the Filipino animatior.
The festival will be held on November 25 to the 28th at iACADEMY Plaza at 342 Sen. Gil Puyat Ave. In that time, there will be talks about finding a place for animation in cinema by Jacques-Rémy Girerd and how to pitch to Cartoon Network by Yoshiya Ayuga. There will also be exhibits, film viewings of creations of the top animators (of course), and showcasing of the Animahenasyon finalist videos. You'll see things like this there.

Tickets are available at the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. Secretariat. For inquiries and reservations, please call (02)211 9277 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
