Bandai Namco just announced the worldwide release of Super Dragon Ball Heroes World Mission (SDBHWM) for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. Okay, I just made that acronym up but I bet people are going to start using it eventually. Apparently, it's the first game in the series that will be launched in South East Asia. That's pretty interesting.
Super Dragon Ball Heroes World Mission takes place in "Hero Town," and is outside of the regular Dragon Ball canon. It's within an alternate reality within the Dragon Ball universe where the Dragon Ball card game is the most popular form of entertainment. You take on the role of Beat, who is a long standing protagonist of the Super Dragon Ball Heroes series, I assume. You will follow his journey to become the Super Dragon Ball Heroes world champ. As you try to do that, bad guys from the virtual world jump out to do bad things, so you jump into the virtual world to restore peace in the real world. I'm sure it'll all make sense when you start playing it.
The actual gameplay is using card battles with characters from multiple Dragon Ball universes, so you're going to get a lot of out-of-canon stuff like new characters, new transformations, new team-ups, new combinations, probably even new powers. Toyotarou, creator of the Dragon Ball Super manga, designed some new characters for the game.
There will be a total of 350 cards and over 1,000 collectible cards. Completionists are going to have a field day with this.
Super Dragon Ball Heroes World Mission will be available on April 5, 2019.
