Special effects and creature make-up are good enough, comparable to what you would find in a B-class horror movie. Based on the first episode, it looks like these supernatural beings have the same abilities and weaknesses as featured in popular culture, but lore is not the concentration of this show anyway. As long as they can keep things funny, then everything should be fine. However, keeping things funny is the challenge that this show has to face. Scriptwriters should be extra creative so the jokes and the scenarios will not get old too fast. After all, for a production as shallow as this, you can’t really throw in a conspiracy to make things interesting.
Coming from MTV, not a lot is expected from something like Death Valley – which can actually be a good thing since its ridiculousness makes it more enjoyable to watch. If you can stomach a scene where a guy’s punch goes through a man’s head, then move in to Death Valley now. The supernatural funnies are waiting.
